The Fujifilm X half (model X-HF1) is the odd one out in the X series: it has a real mechanical lens shutter, so actuations genuinely accumulate — but it records JPEG only, and no X half file has ever been through this parser’s validation corpus. So this page will not tell you to drop a file in and get a count. It tells you what is known, what is not, and what to check instead.

It borrows the idea of a half-frame film camera: an 18 MP 1-inch-type sensor mounted in portrait orientation, a fixed 32 mm-equivalent f/2.8 lens with a physical aperture ring, an optical viewfinder, a film-advance lever, and a 2-in-1 mode that pairs two vertical frames into one image. It is a deliberately restrictive camera — and two of those restrictions are exactly what break the usual shutter-count workflow.

On the Fujifilm bodies this site has validated, the count comes out of the Fujifilm MakerNote: tag 0x1438, ImageCount. It is confirmed from full release samples on the X-T3, X-S20 and X-E4, and read on the wider X-T, X-H, X100 and GFX families — always out of a RAF file or the HIF/JPEG that a body with a RAW mode also writes.
The X half has no RAW mode at all. Its only output is JPEG, so the RAF container that carries an embedded EXIF block on every other X-series camera never exists. That alone does not rule the tag out: Fujifilm has written 0x1438 into both RAF and JPEG files on X-series bodies since roughly 2016, so it is plausible that an X half JPEG carries it too. Plausible is not validated, and this site does not report a plausible count as a count.

Two further caveats apply even in the good case. Fujifilm’s ImageCount is an image counter rather than a lifetime hardware counter: on Fujifilm bodies it can reset when the card is formatted, which makes a low number on a used camera worth a second look. And the tool’s remaining-life bar falls back to a generic reference figure for bodies with no entry of their own — on the X half that bar is not a Fujifilm rating and should be ignored.

If a [FujiFilm] ImageCount line appears, that is your number; if the FujiFilm block has no such line, the body does not write it and no web tool can invent it.On a professional body, actuations are a proxy for the wear of the single most failure-prone mechanical part, measured against a published rating — 300,000 on an X-T4, for example. Neither half of that logic holds on the X half: there is no published rating, and the leaf shutter of a compact is only one of several things that will decide whether a used unit is any good.
The realistic usage pattern matters too. This is a camera bought for casual shooting, and the mode it is built around encourages counted, deliberate frames — a roll of 36, 54 or 72 at a time. A body a year or two old is far more likely to have been shot a few thousand times and then left in a drawer than to be anywhere near a shutter’s mechanical limit. Condition, battery health and whether the lever and shutter still work cleanly tell you more than any number would.
If a verifiable count is what you actually want before handing over money, buy a body where it is verifiable. The Fujifilm cameras below all return a count from a RAW file in the browser, with no upload.

An authorised Fujifilm service centre reads the body’s internal data during service, so a service enquiry is the route to a definitive figure if one exists for this body. It is worth doing before an expensive purchase, not after.
Because that claim has not been tested on this camera. Every “confirmed” entry in the support matrix on the home page traces back to a real file from that body; the X half has no such file yet, and printing a promise without one is how shutter-count sites end up telling people the wrong number.
