Check Shutter Count →The Panasonic Lumix LX100 II (DC-LX100M2, 2018) is an enthusiast fixed-lens compact featuring a 17 MP Micro Four Thirds Multi-Aspect sensor paired with a fixed Leica DC Vario-Summilux 24–75mm f/1.7–2.8 lens. It was the first LX100-series body with a touchscreen and V-Log L support. Panasonic does not publish an official shutter durability rating; based on the MFT sensor platform and comparable Lumix bodies, the mechanical shutter is estimated at approximately 200,000 actuations.
| Model | Release | Sensor | Rated Shutter Life | RAW Format |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Panasonic Lumix LX100 II (DC-LX100M2) | 2018 | 17 MP MFT Multi-Aspect | ~200,000 (est.) | RW2 |
| Panasonic Lumix LX100 (predecessor) | 2014 | 12.8 MP MFT Multi-Aspect | ~150,000 (est.) | RW2 |
| Panasonic Lumix GX9 (comparable MFT body) | 2018 | 20.3 MP MFT (no AA) | ~200,000 (est.) | RW2 |
There are two reliable methods:
| Actuation Count | % of Estimated Life | Assessment |
|---|---|---|
| 0 – 20,000 | 0 – 10 % | Very low use — near new |
| 20,000 – 60,000 | 10 – 30 % | Low use — plenty of life remaining |
| 60,000 – 120,000 | 30 – 60 % | Moderate use — normal for active photographers |
| 120,000 – 180,000 | 60 – 90 % | High use — negotiate price accordingly |
| 180,000 + | 90 %+ | Near or past estimated life — budget for shutter service |
Keep in mind that many LX100 II owners use the camera primarily as a pocketable travel compact with frequent 4K Photo use. These bodies often show surprisingly low mechanical shutter counts relative to their age and overall use.
The Panasonic Lumix LX100 II stores the mechanical shutter count in the Panasonic MakerNote embedded in every RW2 RAW file. ShutterCount reads this directly from the RW2 binary in your browser via the standard Panasonic MakerNote tag — no file is ever uploaded to a server.
If you use ExifTool directly: exiftool -ShutterCount yourfile.RW2 will output the same count.
Both the original LX100 (DMC-LX100) and the LX100 II (DC-LX100M2) use the same RW2 MakerNote structure. The count is available from RW2 files on both models without any additional configuration.
Drop an RW2 file into shuttercount.app, or go to MENU → Setup → Shutter Count on the camera itself.
Panasonic does not publish an official rating. Based on the MFT sensor platform, ~200,000 actuations is a reasonable estimate for normal stills use.
No. 4K video and 4K Photo mode both use the electronic shutter. Only single-frame mechanical shutter actuations increment the counter. Burst mode in electronic shutter also does not count.
Only authorised Panasonic service can reset the hardware counter. Always verify from an original RW2 file, not a screenshot or seller claim.
