It is mechanically identical to the standard M11 — same 60.3 MP BSI CMOS full-frame sensor, same horizontal cloth focal-plane shutter, same DNG RAW output — but features a military-inspired olive-brown body covering made from aramid fiber (similar to Kevlar) for a discrete, durable look in demanding environments.
Because the internal mechanism is shared with the standard M11, the M11 Reporter inherits the same estimated ~150,000-actuation shutter life. Leica does not publish official shutter ratings for any M-series rangefinder. The shutter count is stored in the DNG MakerNote and is readable via shuttercount.app or ExifTool (exiftool -ImageCount yourfile.DNG).

The Leica M11 Reporter writes DNG files using the same Leica MakerNote structure as the standard M11. ShutterCount reads the actuation counter from the ImageCount tag in the Leica MakerNote IFD, the same location used by all M10 and M11-series bodies.

The M11 Reporter is identical internally — same sensor, same shutter, same DNG output. The distinction is the olive-brown aramid-fiber body covering, designed for journalistic discretion and field durability. Image quality, shutter count behaviour, and used-camera inspection criteria are the same as the standard M11.
Only Leica Camera AG service can reset the hardware counter after a physical shutter replacement. Always verify from an original DNG file, not a screenshot.
