The OM System Tough TG-7 (2023) is the latest generation of the legendary TG rugged compact series. Its shutter count is accessible via the camera menu or by dropping an ORF RAW file into shuttercount.app — all processing stays on your device.
Check Shutter Count →The OM System Tough TG-7 (2023) is the first TG-series camera released under the OM System brand following Olympus’ imaging division restructuring. It shares the TG-6’s core platform — a 12 MP 1/2.3" BSI CMOS sensor and a fixed 25–100mm f/2.0 lens — while adding a faster TruePic IX processor, 4K/50p video, improved AI subject recognition AF, and enhanced USB-C data connectivity.
| Model | Release | Sensor | Est. Shutter Life | RAW Format |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Olympus Tough TG-6 | 2019 | 12 MP 1/2.3" BSI CMOS | ~100,000 | ORF |
| OM System Tough TG-7 | 2023 | 12 MP 1/2.3" BSI CMOS | ~100,000 | ORF |
Two methods are available. The camera menu is recommended for accuracy.
All file processing runs locally in your browser — your ORF file is never transmitted to any server.
TG-7 units may have very different usage histories depending on their role: a beach and dive camera will accumulate counts far faster than one used occasionally for family snapshots.
| Actuations | Assessment |
|---|---|
| 0 – 2,000 | Barely used — essentially new |
| 2,000 – 10,000 | Light use — excellent for its age |
| 10,000 – 30,000 | Normal recreational or travel use — good condition |
| 30,000 – 60,000 | Active outdoor or dive use — inspect carefully |
| 60,000 – 100,000 | Heavy use — price in potential service |
| 100,000 + | Beyond estimated life — only at a significant discount |
The OM System TG-7 produces images in ORF format. ShutterCount reads the Olympus MakerNote IFD embedded in ORF files looking for a shutter counter tag. On the TG series this tag is not guaranteed to reflect the lifetime total — on interchangeable-lens OM System bodies it is more reliably embedded.
All parsing is performed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. For a definitive count on the TG-7, use the camera menu method.
No. The TG-7 uses an electronic (rolling) shutter for video recording, which does not increment the mechanical shutter counter. A body used extensively for 4K video may have a lower mechanical count than its total usage would suggest.
Yes — the TG-7 carries an IP68 rating, waterproof to 15 m depth, crush-proof to 100 kgf, freeze-proof to −10°C, and shock-proof from 2.1 m. For diving beyond 15 m, a dedicated PT-059 underwater housing is available. Always check port seals and test the camera in a shallow basin before any dive.
The OM System Tough TG-7 records RAW files in ORF format (Olympus Raw Format). Third-party RAW editors including Lightroom, Capture One, and Zoner Photo Studio support ORF natively.
No. The hardware counter shown in Camera Information is a permanent lifetime total. It can only be reset by an authorised service centre following a physical component replacement.
ShutterCount supports the full Olympus and OM System lineup. See related guides:
