Given the LX5’s age (2010), also inspect the lens elements for haze or fungal growth (especially if stored in humid conditions), the rubber grip for deterioration, and confirm the LCD backlight is fully functional.
The Panasonic Lumix LX7 (2012) replaced the LX5’s CCD sensor with a CMOS sensor (same 10.1 MP resolution, same 1/1.7-inch size) and dramatically improved the lens: 24–90 mm f/1.4–2.3 — a full stop faster at 24 mm (f/1.4 vs f/2.0) and also faster at the telephoto end. A count above 80,000 on a 2010 compact warrants a price reduction and careful inspection. Shutter replacement for discontinued models may cost more than the camera’s resale value. Inspect the lens and sensor image quality with a test shot before buying.
