Pro Capture mode on the OM-1 uses the electronic shutter for its high-speed pre-capture burst — those frames do not increment the mechanical shutter counter. Only the single mechanical release at the end of a Pro Capture sequence is counted.

The OM System OM-1 produces ORF RAW files using Olympus's TIFF-container format. The shutter count is expected to reside in the OM System-specific MakerNote section. However, unlike Canon (CR3/CR2) and Nikon (NEF) where the counter offset is well-documented, OM System/Olympus bodies have not consistently embedded a confirmed lifetime counter in-file across all models and firmware versions.
The in-camera menu method (MENU → Wrench → Camera Info) reads directly from the hardware counter and is always accurate.
Olympus and OM System ORF files contain a ShotNumberSincePowerUp EXIF tag, but this resets to zero each time the camera is powered on and does not represent the lifetime count. The Camera Info menu screen is the only confirmed source of the cumulative mechanical shutter actuation count on the OM-1.
The OM-1 tracks mechanical and electronic actuations separately. The Camera Info screen shows only the mechanical shutter count. Electronic shutter use (Pro Capture, silent mode) is not reflected in the shutter life rating and is not shown in the shutter count figure.
